Welcome to our Mongolian Yurt – your home for the next few days!

 

We’ve tried to provide everything you might need to make your stay as comfortable as possible but if you’re short of anything or find anything not working then just let us know and we’re sure to be able to help!

 

Complementary Bits – your yurt comes with tea, coffee, milk, sugar, salt and pepper. The tea bags are ‘Welsh Brew’ tea, specifically blended by a Welsh family on the Gower peninsula to compliment the Welsh water. We also provide you with some fresh eggs from our ducks and a Bara Brith (translates as speckled bread) which is a traditional Welsh tea bread served sliced and buttered – perfect with a cup of tea! Then for an evening round the campfire, have a glass (or 2) of wine on us!

 

Handy things you might not discover unless told! - there is a rechargeable torch, power bank, clothes pegs and first aid kit in the bedside table, and a USB charging point on the end of the kitchen unit.

 

Water – as there is no mains water at the yurt we refill both water containers each day or as needed. The sink has a solar powered pump – be sure to turn the tap off fully or you’ll drain the battery and have no lights! If the water stops working in the sink, it’s probably because you’ve run out of water. Just let us know and we can fill it up for you.

 

Fire – there are instructions on how to light and operate the fire if you should need them. The flue does get very hot so please use the fire guard to prevent any injuries. There is a fire blanket and fire extinguisher provided – you’ll find these near the kitchen unit. We provide fire wood each day for you to use included in the price.

 

Hob – the hob is not connected to the electric and so needs a flame to light it (match or ‘clicker’). You will need to hold the gas dial down for a few seconds for the ring to light.

 

Bins – there is information written about this system near the big silver bin. Please sort your waste into recycling, rubbish and food as any mixed waste has to be sorted by hand by us which we'd really rather avoid! 🤢

 

Fridge – there is a large cool box inside the yurt to store fresh items. You’ll need to keep swapping the ice packs inside the cool box with fresh frozen ones to ensure it stays cold. There is a standard fridge and freezer next to the car park that’s good for bigger items and meat.

 

Beanbag – this is an indoor/outdoor beanbag so feel free to use it outside. It’s only water resistant not waterproof though so please don’t leave it out in the rain!

 

Single Beds - The 2 sofa cushions turn into 2 single beds. All the bedding for these is in the wooden chest. Please could you use the mattress protectors provided to prevent damage from spills? Thanks.

 

Dogs – we understand how precious your dogs are to you -we wouldn’t go anywhere without ours – they’re part of the family! We also know that dogs can get really wet and muddy, so if you’ve forgotten a towel for them just let us know and we can provide one for you. If your dogs usually go on the furniture, please cover it in a throw to prevent it getting hairy and smelly

 

Herbs and other plants – we’ve planted some herbs near the yurt for you to use if you wish. There's rosemary, chives, mint,  oregano and thyme to use in your cooking, or the rosemary smells great on top of the log burner! Depending on the time of year there may be blackberries and damsons - you might also be lucky enough to find some wild strawberries…

If you fancy a bit of wild food there’s plenty of rosebay willow herb and  sorrel around to add to your salad.

 

Items for sale – we usually have eggs and other fresh fruit and veg for sale, depending upon what has grown! We also may have marshmallows, home made jam, lemon curd and elderflower cordial available.
